Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many "thinks." Horton's challenge is twofold - not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Ages 6 to 12 are welcome to audition.

ABOUT OUR WORKSHOPS
This youth production is designed specifically to provide a nurturing, constructive and safe environment for young performers. The workshop will focus on honing performance skills, boosting confidence and having FUN! It will be great way for participants to work with professional theatre makers and most importantly give them a chance to get up on stage and perform!!
The workshop registration fee covers the costs of: rights, royalties, insurances, technical and creative staff, set and props, venue hire and even a pizza party! Once the cast has been finalised you may have an additional costume hire fee (as stated on registration form).
WORKSHOP INFORMATION
Thank you for your interest in BGPA’s production of SEUSSICAL KIDS. This is A JUNIOR PRODUCTION for 6-12 yr olds. All participants must be at least 6 years old by the date of performance.
AUDITION TRY OUT DAY FOR SPEAKING/FEATURED ROLES:
Character/featured role try outs are NOT compulsory and are for any participant who would like to be considered for a speaking or featured role, plus a great way to get to know the creative team!!
Our in-person try outs will be held on SUNDAY 15TH OF DECEMBER at Brisbane Academy of Dance Studios in Stafford.
If you wish to be considered for a lead/featured role however cannot make it to our audition day… that's okay! Email us directly on info@bgperformingarts.com and we can offer an online video submission!
Try-Out Day Details:
When: Sunday 15th of December 2024
Where: Brisbane Academy of Dance,
15 Harvton St, Stafford QLD 4053
Time: 9:00AM-12:00PM - students can sign into the building from 8:45AM
What: Attendees will participate in a vocal, acting and dance session for our creative team to assess where each performer will best fit within the show.
What to bring: Appropriate shoes, sweat towel, sufficient water and snacks (no nuts) and anything else you may need! (We will provide all paper materials)
What to wear: Please wear clothing that you can easily move in (you will be dancing) and enclosed shoes. Jazz shoes are recommended but not necessary.
What to prepare: All music and dance components will be taught on the day. For the acting component, please select ONE MONOLOGUE to perform on the day. We encourage you to be off book, so we can see your best work! If you would like to familiarise yourself with the singing and acting materials prior to audition day, they can be found on the dropbox link sent upon registration.
We want you to be as comfortable as possible for this day so if you have any troubles accessing the try out information or materials, please do not hesitate to contact us!

AFTER HOURS CARE: Understanding parents may have work commitments, it can be difficult to pick up your child at our specified end time. We offer a free after hours care where students can be picked up anytime from 3:30pm-5pm (Monday-Thursday). If your child needs to stay each afternoon, please remember to pack afternoon tea.
